Who should pay for the wedding?

I’m Chinese. I just told my parents that I’m getting married. I thought that they would pay for the wedding (it’s tradition for the father of the bride to pay, right? at least in Western culture) but they say that in Chinese culture, the groom’s parents pay. My fiance is not Chinese, however. What should I do?

I’m of the opinion that the bride & groom should pay for their own wedding! My parents paid for my education which provided me with the means to support myself & my family. It also provided me with the means to throw my own party.
