What magazine for a 10-year old horse-crazy girl?

My friend’s niece (10-12 years old) hopes to learn to ride. She lives 6 hours from me, so I can’t put her on a horse, but I’d like to encourage the interest & start educating the parents by sending them a subscription (they think they’ll buy a horse when she’s 14). Practical Horseman & Equus are obviously over their heads.
What else is there? These are not rich people; I grew up in Pony Club, hunter-jumpers but maybe they’ll wind up with a western discipline (I have no idea of the scene in their area); the only thing I would discourage is totally trainer-based showing.
I will push them to learn, I will scream at them to engage safe horsemen to teach them what’s what, but in the meantime I hope only to encourage the little girl’s interest. What are the magazines the horsey girls in your life enjoy?
