how do parents cope with teenage girls maturing and dating?
we have 6 kids, the 3 oldest are girls 15, 16, 17. My husband doesn’t want them dating they have not been allowed to have BF until 16 he can only come to our house while we are there. I try to allow the BF’s to come over once or twice a week but dad flips out and gets very mad when I do. He says I dont listen to him, the girls are gonna be pregnant, quit school, something bad is gonna happen and it will be my fault. I disagree I think if he doesnt let the reins loose they will eventually snap. Parents help I dont know where to go I almost to the point of getting a therapist involved before our family is ripped apart, We have always been a closenet family who shares everything and talks freely on all subjects now dad isnt talking at all to any female in the house only the boys 13,13,14 the younger ones who cant get pregnant. OMG Im very frustrated….
Mom,
Doesn’t it sound a bit suspicious that dad is throwing such a hissy fit. Could it be guilt that is making him act this way. Was he guilty of getting a girl pregnant or maybe someone in his family experienced it. usually dads don’t want the daughters to experience things they were guilty of themselves.
Why not ask around just ever so carefully to his family and friends about dear old dad when he was sowing his wild oats.
I’m a mother and Nana and I have found if you yell wolf too loudly, you’ve been the wolf yourself…………
