All throughout the parenting process, you’ll find yourself thinking and even daydreaming about things like wonderful times you will spend with your child, but you have to put that one on hold just for now. The process of being a new parent.
Parenting skills are something that you must become skilled at and it is basically earned. You cannot go into any store to acquire your parenting skills nor can you download parenting skills on the internet.
Here are the processes that you should know to become skilled in parenting.
- Know all there is to know about you own child – we are all different by nature, and we all have a unique character aspect that identifies us to be ourselves. It is a proven fact that most children copy their parents’ actions, their mannerisms and their desires to follow their parents footsteps, but there are also those children who do not want to become like their parents and most of the time defies them. The children that rebels against what you (as the parent) have been used to are the ones you will need to implement good parenting skills with because they will definitely upset you and also leave you feeling discouraged at times.
Parenting is a never-ending job.
Parents are often times unappreciated and overworked. Parenting is nothing but a continuous process. By the time your child steps out into the world at age 18, they are considered as an adult (well, in some cases this may not be applicable). The first response of your child’s question that parents gives to their kid is important and will possibly stick with your child for the rest of their lives. There is a time where the fine line of parenting is nothing but wide, smooth and straight, that is when you know exactly what to do.
Teach your kids self-reliance
Avoiding to spoil your child is your choice, but this is the most important time for you to show them and make then understand compassion, to be with them as they moved on towards adulthood. Moreover, by avoiding conflicts out of fear thinking that your child will not love you back because you do not give everything him/her wants is ridiculous. Now that your children are adults, they too understand that everyone is responsible for the way they built their lives. As opposed to other children who have little or no opportunity to be allowed to explore self-reliance, who was never taught to learn that with possession always comes responsibility, and was never allowed to fulfill their very own needs, sadly they tend to acquire a sense of entitlement which obscures their sense of contribution.
Get more compliance from your child.
A example of positive communication is, when your child asks “Can I watch TV now?” If your initial response to allowing your child to watch TV is “No, you can’t watch TV right now, try saying, “You can watch right after dinner”. By using rewards – You can focus on your child’s positive attitude instead of the negatives by trying to put a marble in a jar when ever your child starts doing something for the first time that you asked which in turn provides more cooperation from your child. If your child argues, all you have to do is to repeat that rule over and over, as opposed you starting a debate with your child and as a result of doing this, you will gain more cooperation from your child.
Common child and parent problems.
So if you do not have one of these back at home and you are basically clueless about them do not even contemplate on trying to help your child with their school work. Parents are trying to guide their children to the best of their knowledge by reliving their very own childhood/teen years and the truth of the matter is that parents haven’t really moved forward to present times. How hard can being parent can be? In a sense, parenting can be considered as quite easy, however when it comes down to giving advice and helping your children this is where things get difficult. A lot of the lessons now are all computerized, most probably your child is more adept in using a computer than you are.
Make memories with quality family time.
The following tips ensure that your family time will be stress free and will ensure that you will make your family memories last for a lifetime:
- Remember that by having pleasant dinner talks it is one of the most effective and the simplest way to create family bonds/ties and this will truly make your memories last you for a lifetime. Be sure to maintain a pleasant conversation at dinnertime as well as having inspirational and upbeat conversations too. If dinnertime conversations are not pleasant, your family members will not even remember these times spent together as a family and in turn family dinners this will easily be just an activity that they don’t want to participate in. If your family does not want to participate in family dinner due to unpleasant conversation, that is certainly counterproductive of quality family time. These are a good effective parenting initiative tactics.
- Try to set at least an hour or two aside with your family, before your next scheduled activity.
